me and mrs rambler had been due to visit barcelona in may but the trip had to be postponed until last week.
on tuesday last, the day before the chancellor was due to lay austerity on with a trowel, we decided to revisit one of the best value restaurants we've found there.
you can find the 'al passatore' it just behind the main post office, near the placa de palau.
in the past,we'd both found the 'menu del dia', that's served in most restaurants between 1.30 and 3.30, offered fantasic value for money- much better than being tempted by a plate of tapas and a beer.
al passatore offered a starter of lentils with spinach and prawns; followed by chicken roasted with red peppers and rosemary and a plate of spuds. a quarter carafe of red wine and an expresso ended the meal. and all for €6.90. even with today's exchange rate i reckon that came to just over six quid or the price of a couple of pies and a coke from greggs!
mr 'austerity' osborne may have approved! viva barcelona
I am sorry to see that your caps key has jammed in the off position and hope it will be repaired soon.
