A couple of very hot weeks have passed since I last blogged. We're still in Austin.
We will kick off our trip to Dallas/Fort Worth tomorrow in the early morning. The drive will take about three hours. There are enough visual delights in both places to fill in most of the day.
During the last few days we've visited a couple of local small towns. Local in the US sense. That is anywhere within a two hour drive.
First Georgetown.
I wonder just how many " Georgetowns" there are in the United States.
This one is about an hour from Austin. Sis- in- law, Teresa said was a "Back to the Future" town. And it was, though it reminded me more of "Pleasantville". The town was founded by Swedish immigrants. It had the usual crop of entertaining signs.
These were the local attorneys "The Stumps"
Then this sign is quite common outside restaurants in the US.
And this one may have misled a few of my former solvent abusing clients.
Then yesterday, it was on to Gruene-pronounced Green- a small town founded by German immigrants.
This is alleged to be the oldest dance hall in Texas. I'm sure there's some dispute over that !
We stayed for lunch. A quart of lemonade, onion rings and a wonderful Wurstburger in recognition of Gruene's German heritage
These were the onion rings- imagine the size of the burger!
Just so y'all know we're not starving!
I wonder how you got so good. This is really a fascinating blog, lots of stuff that I can get into. One thing I just want to say is that your Blog is so perfect!
