It may be true that the £81 million quid used by the former Thai prime minister, Thaksin Shinawatra, is "clean". But Seymour Pierce's executive chairman, Keith Harris, involved in the deal would say that wouldn't he? After all, Seymour Pierce are probably on a big earner to bring off this deal. Anyone guess- 10% ?
But I can give some free legal advice to any organisation dealing with those funds-make sure that you have complied with the money laundering regulations.
Of course it's not just the cash to buy into Man City that's important. The fans see their new owner as a Roman Abramovich figure. So their new manager will need an almost bottomless pit of cash to buy, increasingly expensive, soccer stars.
And just what would happen if Thaksin were to be convicted of corruption in Thailand? He would grumble that the conviction was politically motivated. He may avoid extradition, but would he then be a fit and proper person to own the club?
